We’ve entered a part of the year that can be awkward for door decor. From fall to winter, you can rely on the holiday season to add spooky halloween decorations or a nice Christmas wreath, but when the new year and spring round the corner, it’s a little less obvious what you can use to amp up the front of your house. Below are a few DIY projects you could try to make decorating your front door extremely simple.
Chalkboard Sign

Simple, classic, and versatile. The chalkboard sign is something you could keep on your door year round, and it gives you a space to include personalized messages, greetings, and notes! You can either get a premade chalkboard sign from your local craft store, or you could design the sign yourself and use colorful chalkboard paint.
Monogram Door
Another classic with minimal effort. Nothing stands out against the other doors in the neighborhood like a decoration that clearly defines whose house it is. Play with multiple letters and styles – like moss, painted, or light up letters – or keep it simple with a single wooden version of your last initial. You can find a variety of letter styles and sizes at your local craft store.
Rainboots and Flowers
This is an easy and unique way to draw attention to your door this spring. Collect some old rainboots and add fake flowers to create a cute and colorful decoration. Secure a ribbon to hang from a hook on your door, and voila! This can also be done with an umbrella or a watering can for a similar effect.
Flower Basket

Go beyond the basic flower wreath this year and try out a flower basket. Collect silk flowers from either the dollar store or a craft store and arrange them in a basket with a flattened back. The flattened back is important so it lays flat against the door once it’s hanging. This is a great way to introduce different textures to the door decor!
Empty Picture Frame

Not into flowers or monograms? Try this semi-rustic look with an empty picture frame hanging on your front door. You can include personalized embellishments like different pops of color or messages. You could even add pictures of the family to the frame!
How do you like to design your door in the spring? Perhaps you’ve tried some of these looks before, or you’re new to the DIY door decor game. Either way, have fun with the options above and make it unique to you! It’s great to have a homemade piece of decor that you can use from year to year.
